Shipping

Everything you need to know about shipping items to buyers safely and on time.

Setting shipping costs when listing

When you create a listing, you set the shipping cost that buyers will pay at checkout.

  • Enter a shipping price in the Shipping price field when creating your listing.
  • Set it to £0 to offer free shipping — this can attract more buyers.
  • Factor in packaging materials and your courier's rates when setting the price.
  • You can also specify where you ship from (e.g. “London, UK”) so buyers know what to expect.

Shipping options

Nickit does not mandate a specific courier — you can use whichever service works best for you. Popular options include:

  • Standard shipping: Royal Mail 2nd Class, Evri Standard, Hermes — typically 2–5 business days.
  • Express shipping: Royal Mail 1st Class, DPD Next Day, DHL Express — typically 1–2 business days.
  • For international orders, services like Royal Mail International Tracked or DHL are recommended.

Tracked shipping — strongly recommended

We strongly recommend always using a tracked service. Here's why:

  • If a buyer opens a “item not received” dispute, tracked proof of postage is your primary protection.
  • Tracked shipments build buyer confidence and reduce the likelihood of disputes.
  • Without tracking, refunds may be issued to the buyer even if you did ship the item.

Marking an order as shipped

Once you've sent the item, you must mark the order as shipped in your dashboard so the buyer is notified.

  • Go to Dashboard → Orders to Ship.
  • Find the order and click Mark as shipped.
  • Enter your tracking number (strongly recommended).
  • The buyer will receive an email notification with your tracking information.

Providing tracking numbers

Tracking numbers can be entered when you mark an order as shipped. Buyers can see the tracking number from their order page and use it to monitor delivery progress directly on the courier's website.

Worldwide shipping

Nickit supports worldwide shipping. When listing, you can indicate whether you ship internationally. Please note:

  • International shipping costs vary significantly by destination — set a price that covers your courier fees.
  • Buyers are responsible for any import duties or customs fees in their country.
  • International tracked services are even more important than for domestic shipments.
  • Typical international delivery times range from 5–21 business days depending on destination.
