Selling on Nickit
Everything you need to know about listing items and earning money on Nickit.
Setting up your account
Before you can sell on Nickit, you need to complete two things:
- Create a Nickit account and verify your email address.
- Set up your payout account via Stripe Connect — this is required before any listing you create will go live. Head to Dashboard → Earnings to get started.
Setting up Stripe Connect takes around 5 minutes and requires your name, address, and bank account details so we can pay you when you make a sale.
Creating a listing
Click Sell in the navigation bar to open the listing form. A great listing includes:
- Photos: Add up to 8 clear photos. Use natural daylight and photograph the item from multiple angles, including any labels and flaws. Items with 4+ photos get significantly more views.
- Title: Be specific — include brand, item type, and size. E.g. “Vintage Levi's 501 Jeans W28 L32”.
- Description: Describe the condition honestly. Include measurements, fabric, colour, and any marks or flaws.
- Price: Set a fair price — see pricing tips below.
- Shipping: Add a shipping cost or offer free shipping. Always use tracked shipping.
Pricing tips
Pricing well is the single biggest factor in how quickly you sell.
- Browse similar items on Nickit before setting your price.
- Aim to be within 10–20% of comparable listings to attract buyers quickly.
- New-with-tags items command a premium; “Good” condition items should be priced lower than “Very Good”.
- Consider pricing slightly above your minimum so there's room to accept offers.
- Items that don't sell within 30 days often benefit from a small price drop.
Platform fee
Nickit charges a platform fee on each completed sale. The fee is deducted automatically before your payout — you never have to pay anything upfront. The exact percentage is shown in your dashboard and at the bottom of each page.
Responding to offers
Buyers can make offers on your listings. You'll receive a notification when an offer arrives.
- You have 48 hours to accept, decline, or counter an offer — after this it expires automatically.
- Responding quickly improves your conversion rate significantly.
- You can counter with a different price if the buyer's offer is too low.
- Manage all offers in Dashboard → Offers.
Shipping your item
Once a buyer checks out, you'll receive an email and a dashboard notification with their shipping address.
- Pack the item securely — use bubble wrap or tissue paper for delicate items.
- Ship within the timeframe stated on your listing (recommended: within 3 business days).
- Always use tracked shipping so disputes can be resolved quickly.
- Mark the order as shipped in your dashboard and enter the tracking number.
Getting paid
Payments are processed via Stripe. Once the buyer's order is confirmed and any holding period has passed, funds are transferred to your connected bank account. Payouts typically arrive within 2–7 business days depending on your bank. See Payments & Fees for full details.
